Best Take The Lead provide a fully insured, criminal record checked, professional and caring dog walking and pet care service.

Our services include; dog walking, dog day care, dog sitting, Pop-in services for feeding cats and cat sitting.

Here at Best Take the Lead we understand the important role that your pet plays in your life, which is why we promise to care and love for your dog or cat as if they were our own when they are walking or staying with us.

Dog Walking

Is your pet not getting enough exercise? Why not ask us to walk your pet for you. This will give you piece of mind that your pet wont get bored waiting for you to take them out.

Home Visits

Home visits for those of you who work long hours or have to be away for the day. We can drop in and check on your pet. This means your pet continues to receive the love they deserve.

Prices

Dog walking starts from £10 per hour for a social group walk. Home visits start from £10 per visit. Please click 'Read more' below for more prices.

Dog Walking

We offer a dog walking service if you are within our coverage area. The service consists of a full hour, from pick-up at your home to drop-off and we try to minimise the distance to the walking spot to give the maximum time walking.

We have a small van complete with 3 large dog crates so we are generally able to transport any size of dog. For dogs that have problems with, or are reluctant to, jump into the crates, we have a special dog ramp they can use.

After an initial free of charge consultation at your home we will agree a regular or one-off time to collect your dog(s).If you are not at home when we pick up or drop off your dog(s), we will let ourselves in to your house, collect and drop off your pet, and ensure the house is securely locked behind us ‐ including setting any alarms as required.

We will initially aim to walk dogs individually (excepting where there are multiple dogs from the same household). This is to enable us to get to know the dog, and vice versa, and to ensure we can devote enough attention to each individual dog. After a few walks, with the agreement of the owners, we may walk dogs in pairs.

All walks are initially on the lead. This is to avoid any potential problems with recall as the dogs get to know the walkers. Walks off the lead are possible but generally only after a few on-lead walks, and only when the owner and the walker agree. Prior to walking any pet for the first time, the owner will need to complete a simple authorisation form, and to provide contact numbers, and vet details in the event of a problem.

Home Visits

Our Home Visit service allows your pet to remain in the comfort of their own home, which means that by being in familiar surroundings your dog, cat or small animal will be less stressed throughout the duration of your absence. It is the perfect alternative if you are worried about the effect kennels or catteries will have on your pet, or you are worried about imposing upon your family, friends or neighbours.

Our visit will last up to 20 minutes, where we will feed, play, clean cages/ litter trays as well as perform any other tasks you request. Included as part of this service we will ensure your home has that �lived in� look by bringing in post, taking out rubbish and switching lights on/off etc.

Prices

Dog Walking Service

£10.00 = 1 hour for a social pack walk (Dogs from same household £6.00 per extra dog)

£12.00 = 1 hour for a solo walk (Dogs from same household £8.00 per extra dog)

Weekend Walks

£14.00 = 1 Hour for a social pack walk (dogs from same household are charged £8.00 per extra dog)

£16.00 = 1 hour for a solo walk (dogs from same household are charged £9.00 per extra dog)

Puppy Care Service

£10 = 1 hour home visit
(The visit will include cleaning up any accidents, feeding, changing water and play/company)

Dog Home Care service

£10 = 1 Hour visit Daytime ( For feeding and watering, being let out into the garden & general company )

£12 = 1 Hour vist Evening ( For feeding and watering, being let out into the garden & general company, Switching on lights and giving the general at home effect )

£28.00 per day 8am ‐ 6pm ( pet sitting in your own home + 1 hours walk, dogs from the same household will be charged at £14 per dog )

£36 per evening 6pm ‐ 1am ( pet sitting in your own home, dogs from the same household will be charged at £8 per dog )

Staying with your dog in your home while you are away on holiday or a short trip = £26 per day/night for the first 7 Days and then reduced to £20 per day for the remaining

2nd dog discount £16/£10 per day/night

This service includes 1 Hours walk per day, feeding, playing /company, keeping your house secure and taking bins out and any other pre arranged requirements

Cat & Small Animal Care

£6.00 = ½ Hour Home visit
(feeding, cleaning out litter tray / pet cages)

Home Boarding

We offer home boarding for small pets

£6.00 per day (Hamsters, Budgies, Mice & Gerbils etc.)

£8.00 per day (Parrots, Reptiles)

Other services we offer

Vets visits £12.00 (plus cost of treatment)

Transport To and from Groomers £10.00

Feeding of dogs and cats £3.00 (when added on to another service)

About Us

A business that loves to care

Best Take the Lead is owned and run by a self-confessed dog lover. He considers his dogs 'his babies'. Since leaving a management job for a local public business he has been planning to use his live for animals to create a business.

Now Best Take the Lead is ready and willing to use his love and skills to care for your pets when you are unable. Whether your pet needs a walk or needs someone to look after it whilst you are on holiday; Best Take the Lead would love to care for them.
